CADS - Alberta considers issues relating to your privacy to be a serious matter. As such, CADS-Alberta has developed and implemented this Privacy Policy for better understanding of what CADS-Alberta may and may not do with certain personal information. CADS-Alberta encourages you to review this Privacy Policy.

Introduction

CADS-Alberta will use only personally identifiable information which can be attributed to you, for uses relevant and reasonable to the functioning of CADS-Alberta as outlined in this Privacy Policy. CADS-Alberta will not retain personally identifiable information unrelated to CADS-Alberta functioning. Personally identifiable information will herein be referred to as "personal information" and consists of any or all of the following: name, age, physical characteristics such as weight or height, medical records, ID numbers as well as subjective information such as past evaluations, disciplinary action and/or past disputes. Personal information does not include job titles or publicly available information such as telephone numbers or addresses, or any personal information previously made public for artistic, literary or journalistic purposes (media).

Collection of Personal Information

Membership with CADS-Alberta will require that you provide certain personal information. If you attend one or more CADS-Alberta functions, CADS-Alberta may keep a record of your attendance.

To use specific features and services provided on CADS-Alberta website, CADS-Alberta will require provision of certain personal information. CADS-Alberta may issue a unique "user id" which must be provided each time the aforementioned features and services are accessed.

With a "user id", CADS-Alberta may collect information about your use of the features and services of its website (whether or not you provide your user id on each visit) and CADS-Alberta may associate this information with your other personal information. If a visitor does not have a user id but does permit cookies, then CADS-Alberta has the means to track use of its website by that visitor but has no ability to determine who that visitor is unless the visitor provides that information.

If possible, CADS-Alberta will collect personal information directly from the individual themself and will only seek outside information relating to the specific individual if it is inappropriate to obtain personal information directly. Regardless of the information that CADS-Alberta collects, CADS-Alberta will only use this information for the limited purposes set out in this Privacy Policy.

Uses of Personal Information

CADS-Alberta will make one or more of the following uses of your personal information:
  1. To analyze personal information and other data in order to enhance CADS-Alberta programs, services and website;
  2. For the purpose for which it was provided and in relation to activities which are reasonably ancillary to such purpose. For example, with email correspondence to CADS-Alberta, email address and contents can be recorded for future reference;
  3. Postal or email addresses provided to CADS-Alberta will be used to provide information on future CADS-Alberta programs and other items that CADS-Alberta believes important to its members;
  4. CADS-Alberta may also use and disclose personal information that is relevant to a legal proceeding or as permitted or required by law. In the event CADS-Alberta transfers control of any or all of its operations or services, CADS-Alberta reserves the right to transfer and disclose your personal information to that party. However, CADS-Alberta will require that party to agree that it will be similarly bound by the provisions of this Privacy Policy and that it will only use and disclose your personal information as set out by this Privacy Policy.
In the event CADS-Alberta amalgamates with another organization, CADS-Alberta reserves the right to permit that amalgamated organization to continue to use and disclose your personal information. However, CADS-Alberta will require that the amalgamated organization agree that it will be similarly bound by the provisions of this Privacy Policy and that it will only use and disclose your personal information as CADS-Alberta is similarly entitled under this Privacy Policy.

CADS-Alberta may engage certain service providers to assist CADS-Alberta in its activities. Further, CADS-Alberta may work with other organizations similar to CADS-Alberta towards some common purpose consistent with the objectives of CADS-Alberta. For these purposes, it may be necessary for CADS-Alberta to disclose your personal information to these service providers and other organizations. However, CADS-Alberta will require that these service providers and other organizations agree that they will only use and disclose your personal information solely for those purposes and that they will adhere to the terms of this Privacy Policy.

Notwithstanding the foregoing, CADS-Alberta may at its discretion, provide to you an opportunity to opt out of certain uses of your personal information. These could include the receipt of e-mails.

Except as otherwise provided in this Privacy Policy, CADS-Alberta will not sell, rent, loan, trade, lease or otherwise transfer any personal information, including e-mail addresses, to any third party and CADS-Alberta will treat any personal information you provide as confidential information.

Updating of Personal Information

At your request, CADS-Alberta will update the personal information to ensure that it is correct.

How Long is Personal Information retained by CADS-Alberta

CADS-Alberta will keep personal information for the duration of time the individual is involved with CADS-Alberta, and as long as the information remains relevant and useful to the business and legal functioning of CADS-Alberta. At the conclusion of such time, CADS-Alberta will delete the information.

Internet Security

CADS-Alberta website has security measures in place to protect against the loss, misuse or alteration of the personal information under CADS-Alberta control. However, CADS-Alberta cannot guarantee that these security measures will not be breached.

Changes to the CADS Privacy Policy

CADS-Alberta reserves the right to modify or amend this Privacy Policy at any time and for any reason. CADS-Alberta will notify visitors of changes to this Privacy Policy by posting notice of the change for at least two weeks on CADS-Alberta homepage.

General

Nothing contained in this Privacy Policy is intended to create a contract or agreement between CADS-Alberta and any user visiting its website or providing personal information in any form. On request, CADS-Alberta will provide individuals with information regarding the existence, use and disclosure of their information, and will provide access to that information if reasonable.
